However you should remember that you are not supposed to use HPLight if:

• Your skin complexion is naturally dark. HPLight removes unwanted hair by selectively affecting hair pigment, which also exists in the surrounding tissue of skin. There is much more pigment in the skin of people with naturally darker complexion.
• Do not use HPLight on tanned skin, after sun or artificial tan machine exposure!
• HPLight is much less effective on light, naturally white, grey, blond and red body hair, and may not affect them as strongly as dark hair.
• Certain conditions: if you are pregnant, if your were exposed a strong sunlight or artificial tanning machine during the last 28 days, if your have tattoos, dark brown or black spots, moles, birth marks on the area treated, tetter, psoriasis, open wounds, active infections, cold sore, kelodial scar formation, sensitivity to light. How does light remove hair?

Light-based hair removal is founded on the concept of photothermolysis, when the energy of light is applied to stop hair growth. In order to achieve such thermic effect the hair needs to selectively absorb the energy of light and to transform it into heat. This selectivity can be achieved when the energy delivered to the tissue is mostly absorbed by dark hair pigment (melanin), while the skin and surrounding tissue stays unheated. Melanin is responsible for the absorption of the light, that generates the heat consequently disabling hair growth. Therefore the more melanin exists in the hair (i.e. the darker the hair) the more light can be absorbed and the faster the hair will be removed.

How does the hair growth cycle impact light based hair removal?

Every single hair in our body goes through three stages in its growth: Anagen, Catagen and Telogen. These phases are crucial for the process of light-based hair removal and are a key to understanding how it works. Anagen is the growth phase while Catagen and Telogen are resting phases.

The time it takes for a full hair growth cycle to complete varies from person to person and from the location of the hair on the body, but typically takes 18-24 months. At any given moment most of the hair follicles in any skin area are in the resting phases. These resting hairs cannot be affected by HPLight. However, hairs that are currently in the growing Anagen phase will respond to HPLight treatment. It is important to understand that it will likely take a full hair growth cycle to reach complete hair removal with HPLight.
